Mill Updates and CNC Installation
 
 
Area Setup, Prep, & Miscellaneous Work
Disassemble Mill: Done!
Get down the mill stand and set it up for working: Done!
Lap the Ways: Done!
Fill base with Epoxy Granite: Done!
Engineer a stronger column connection similar to Davo727's . Done!
Hockey Puck Levelers. Done!
Make the IH Z-Axis Modification. Done!
Fill column with Epoxy Granite. Done!
Engineer new pulley system and belts for X and Y axis to fit the larger servo shafts since stock pulleys won't work. Done!
Order new X and Y axis motor pulleys and belts from SDP-SI. Done!
 
One Shot Oiling System: Done!
Plumb one shot oiling in saddle. Done!
Mount one shot pump to column. Done!
One Shot Oiling on Z-Carriage. Done!
 
Y-Axis
Install ballscrew so Y servo drive is "on bracket". Done!
Install home/limit switch. Done!
Install belt and pulleys. Done!
Button up to finish Y-Axis drive.
 
X-Axis
Install ballscrew so X servo drive is "on bracket". Done!
Install home/limit switch. Done!
Install belt and pulleys. Done!
Button up to finish X-Axis drive.
 
Z-Axis
Install column on mill. Done!
Install ballscrew so Z servo drive is "on bracket". Done!
Install home/limit switch. Done!
Install belt and pulleys. Done!
Button up to finish Z-Axis drive.
 
Axis Modules
Cut heat sinks to size and mill shoulders. Done!
Purchase heat sink mounting hardware: 4-40 and 8-32. Done!
Drill and tap heatsinks. Done!
Make heatsink spacers. Done!
Make axis module front panels. Done!

Populate components. Done!

Wire up axis modules. Done!
Wire power cords to servos. Done!
Test axis modules. Done!
 
Electronics Enclosure
Order DC power supply. Done!
Set up the wife's new computer so the old one can be used on the mill. In progress. Remaining work: Setup Outlook. Move data.
Order boards from CNC4PC. Done!
Remove the existing racking from inside the NEMA enclosure. Done!
Enclosure mounting holes for axis modules. Done!
Make a sub-chassis for the CNC4PC boards, limit switch board, and E-Stop relays for DC Supply and VFD. Done!
Order E-Stop, Start plunger, and status LED. Done!
Front panel with Start, E-Stop, and Status LED. Done!
 
Final Assembly
